I put a video on my facebook on January sixth that got a lot of positive reaction. Including landing me the “Featured Artist” slot at San Antonio’s R&R Luncheon & PRO-Jam.
I couldn’t be more thrilled about a little attention & recognition. The truth of the matter is most artist’s posts are for that very reason. With that said, the “We Three Kings” post was for mom. I pick on her a lot about how enthusiastic of a “biggest” fan she is. However, as I watch my daughter grow, understanding is starting to displace all the embarrassment triggered by all of the “that’s my baby boy”s boisterously declared in the background of my life.
My love of music was born during 15-20 hour drives from Houston, TX to Columbia, SC. My love of guitar was fostered by the other children of parents in the Westminster Presbyterian Choir as well as my sister’s rock phase blasting through the bedroom wall. My father making sure we had an awesome collection to choose from while we were cleaning on the weekends didn’t hurt any.
With all that said, my love of MAKING music, was born and raised around an old beat up piano during Christmas season. None of us were there by choice except for Mom, who made it happen every year for quite a few years and I will be forever grateful.
Thanks Mom.
