And This is How it Happened: Live @ Marigny Studios

This Album was the product of circumstance. Ryan Patrick and I were the last members of Hazy Ray living in New Orleans. Unlike most of the crazy ideas that pop in my head, this one happened at a time where I had all the resources and people at my disposal to make it happen.

And because of this, in spite of his heavy academic schedule, Ryan was more than up to the task.

We got together on five occasions to prepare for the album. These practices were largely spent reminiscing about our previous half-decade touring together and crafting a setlist for the performance(which we are not known for doing). They were relaxed, full of laughs, musically fulfilling, and serviceable as motivation to push through to the end of the process. With Ryan nearing the end of his academic tenure, with me learning to be a dad, and with us saying goodbye to the band, the sense of catharsis involved was almost intoxicating. These memories will forever be warm ones for me.

Ryan picked the covers which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwFEqn5B2SD7A4seqifdpQg

If you listen to “High and Dry” first, “Fell on Black Days” between “Internal Warfare” and “Rainy Day”, and “Wave Goodbye” last, you will have gotten the whole experience.

The audio was captured by Paul Mcdonald, my preferred engineer in New Orleans. The concert was held at Marigny Studios. Jorge of Lonely Eskimo Productions headed up the video capture and editing processes.

The album was mixed and mastered by Mike Tristan.
