There has been a lot going on, and I am slowly but surely catching up with all of it. I have enjoyed performing at Jandro’s and Big Bob’s Burgers here in San Antonio. Slowly but surely they are helping put food on the table! Thus far those are the two places that have given me a shot since I have moved. (Bob’s regularly at 6pm on Wednesdays). Next Tuesday I will add My Friend’s Back Yard Bar to the list. I will be doing what I do from 8-11pm weekly for Aaron and company, and I am excited about it. In addition to that, I have a weekend in Katy, Tx every month at Agave Rio, so more bills are being paid! I am currently prepping for my show at The Howlin’ Wolf Den in New Orleans on 12/16! That is quite the birthday present!
As for projects, it has been hard to continue what I had going in New Orleans. Finally I have some news on that front. Michelle Richards will be making her way here in late January at which time we should be able to write her first project and plan its recording. I am beyond excited about her trip. In the mean time, you can find her singing like few can and leading the St. Joseph’s Choir on Tulane in New Orleans every Sunday morning. If you worship, and you need a place to while in New Orleans, you should drop in.
There is a talented young songwriter here by the name of Aaron Bachofer. As indecisive as he may be about his nomenclature, he is a gifted songwriter from what I have heard so far. He also seems to have similar musical tendencies as myself. Given that I have been around the block a few times, I have decided to lend him my experience and allies too get him some professional quality recordings. I am very excited about hearing the final product.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, “Lust Story” ‘s release has moved behind Ryan and my live performance at Marigny Studios. This is a good thing. I can release content and not rush this project, as it will be my first studio effort under my own name. On that note, I semi-officially (they said they’re in, i’m still making the dough to pay them LOL) enlisted the services of Willie McCullen, Alan Green Jr., Stephen Thomas, and Sean Rodriguez for the recording of “Out of My Mind” and “The Door”. With these cats on it, I cannot tell you how pumped I am to get going on this!
I just purchased 12 hours on sale at a great studio in Nashville, and I am anxious to get going with Scott Graves, Oliver Watkinson, Ryan Patrick, and Mike Tristan again! B-sides for “Lust Story” singles have been fire thus far. Cannot help dreaming about more.
Other than that, it is just the most important things. My girls. They are keeping me on my toes night and day :), and I am happy about it!
They somehow manage to let me practice and write every day, and I cannot be more grateful for it!
