…with Hazy Ray

Hey Everyone,
I hope the sun is shining in your hearts and on your lives in these difficult times. For all the tragedy that plagues our world on a daily basis, I see acts of kindness renew the faith and goodness in people nearly everyday. “Be the change you want to see” is not just a cliche but a heartset, a way of life. These face to face interactions remind me how many people take the responsibility seriously, personally, and regularly. They make me proud to be human on earth.

Something, insignificant to the world at large yet very near to my soul, is taking place during all of this. This tree means nothing to the forest for it is a weed really.

With all that is going on, I was content to allow it to pass unnoticed. However, enough of you have sent me messages inquiring about Hazy Ray returning to your town; I should say something.

As of now we are on a break. It is nothing so dramatic and trite we are used to hearing about from band-breaks. Furthermore, none of us our slowing down:

If you haven’t heard, our fearless leader P Michael Hayes II, is taking advantage of a wonderful opportunity with an amazing band out of Austin,ROXY ROCA!

The brainiest of our trust, Ryan Patrick Noormohamed, is at Tulane fertilizing the hell out of the soil beneath -what will be- more than just a budding career in law. He is also transporting those amazing picking skills to mandolin & banjo as well as staying sharp on the guitar. Keep a look out for “Ryan Patrick Trio”

The most naturally talented of us, Sean Rodriguez, is tearing through the country with a soulful belter of the highest caliber, Annika Chambers, as well as hitting every jam he can get his hands on in Houston, TX

A future house hold name for drummers, and the musical love of my musical life (Linda & Ayana… uh… sorry?lol), Willie McCullen has undertaken the task of playing with every great bassist in Houston (and there are a TON). He is also teaming up with Sean as well as other members of The Conglomerate, McIan Amos, and Edward Louis Matthews (shall they ever stand for nothing and break for no one). Check out If You Have to Ask and hire them for everything!

As for myself (Joshua Ray Summey), I am neck deep in another album with Mike Tristan. “Lust Story” is going incredibly with Scott Graves @ Oliver Watkinson already making their marks, and Willie & Sean geared up to do the same.
I am only performing in Louisiana and Texas for now. This is because Linda gave birth to our daughter, Evangelina Grace, in January of this year! I am here in New Orleans focusing on my two ladies.

Thanks so much for listening, supporting, booking, hiring, and playing. It means so much to all of us. More importantly thank you for being good to each other. Continue to be. Try as much as you can to leave every room, interaction, situation, and relationship in which you find yourself in a more positive state than you found it.

“Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light” -Dumbledore

Be good-
Josh Ray
